Betty Ann Reed Obituary

Betty Ann (Chaffins) Reed, age 83, of Garrett, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at Miller's Merry Manor, Garrett. Mrs. Reed was born in Floyd County, Kentucky on September 12, 1940 to the late Willis Hiatt Chaffins and Helen Marie (Bradley) Chaffins. She was a licensed cosmetologist and a homemaker. She loved to cook, bake pies and make candy. She loved feeding people and would always make extra so she could share with her neighbors. One of her greatest gifts was her ability to forgive and let go of the past. Her greatest love was her family and her desire that each and everyone of them will come to know the love, mercy, and the grace of God. She is survived by daughter, Renee Womack of Garrett, daughter, Melanie Allion of Lenoir City, Tennessee, daughter, Lenora Slone of Kentucky, son, Jamie Reed of Auburn, Indiana, son, Roger Hiatt "Henry" Reed of Butler;  grandchildren, Luke Womack, Jarrod and Caleb Slone, Rachael and Deborah Allion, Keneatha Collins, Briana, Dakota, Joseph, and Isaac Reed; great grandchildren, Aliyah, Raegan, Marley, Thomas, and Bobby Slone, Aragorn, and Serenity Hewgley, Winter Collins; sisters, Charlotte Fogle of Wolcottville, Vada Dangler of Angola, Deborah Kaduk of Auburn and Burneda Howard of Hollybush, Kentucky; step-brothers, Reggie Thacker, Derick Thacker, Shawn Thacker and Todd Thacker all of Kentucky;                 deceased brothers, James Clifton Chaffins, Larry P. Chaffins, David R. Chaffins, Kelse Jerry Chaffins, John Wess Chaffins; deceased sister, Trudy S. Kirk; deceased ex-husband, Roger Reed Jr.

There will be a local memorial service held Saturday, March 16th, 2024 at 1:30 PM at New Life House of Worship, 130 South Randolph Street, Garrett. Family and friends will gather at 12:00 noon before the memorial service begins. 

There will also be a memorial service held in Kentucky from 1-3:00 PM on April 6, 2024
